The vineyard is a haven for wildlife. Each season brings its own delights , from the song of the larks in early summer to the lurid spindle berries of autumn. We have planted hedges and dug a pond to encourage wildlife and develop the natural balanced system of pest control essential for organic farming.

The mulch along the vine rows provides a home for countless field mice, in turn attracting a barn owl to roost in our barn – where else?. A Great Spotted woodpecker has discovered the rich pickings from the vine posts, and is often heard among the vines. The rare Bath Asparagus (Ornithogalum pyrenaicum), said to have been introduced by the Romans, can be seen around the entrance and in the surrounding lanes.
